Bay 2025 - 2026

Miss Isabella Watts

Welcome to Bay Class!

Autumn Term

Our topic for the first half term is ‘Vikings’, this will incorporate a lot of our foundation subjects that will sit alongside our Maths, English, Science, PSHE, PE and Computing bespoke teaching.
In our English and Communication sessions our current focus story is ‘How to be a Viking’. From this focus story we will build our communication, reading and writing skills and confidence. It will also link well with our PSHE work too where we look to develop our understanding of how we communicate with and support our friends.
In our maths sessions, we will be working on number and place value.

Throughout each day we will weave in our personal targets and aim to make our learning fun!

Spring Term

We have an exciting and busy term ahead, packed with lots of learning and opportunities to grow together!
In Science, we’ll be exploring plants and living things, discovering what they need to grow and how they change over time. Our PSHE lessons will focus on taking care of the environment, helping children understand how small actions can make a big difference to our world.
In RE, we’ll be exploring Islam, learning about key beliefs, celebrations, and what is important to Muslims, encouraging curiosity and respect for different faiths and cultures.
Our English work is inspired by the classic tale of Aladdin, using the story to develop reading, writing, and imagination. In Maths, we’ll be building confidence with fractions and positional direction, using practical and hands-on activities to support understanding.
We’re also excited to continue Forest School sessions with Julie, where children can explore, learn, and develop skills through outdoor play and discovery.
Alongside this, our communication sessions will support children in developing their social and interaction skills, helping them to build confidence, express themselves, and work positively with others.
It’s shaping up to be a fantastic term full of learning, creativity, and fun.

Summer Term

We are thrilled to share what promises to be an exciting, active and enriching Summer Term for our pupils!
This term is packed with opportunities for our children to learn, explore and thrive through hands-on experiences both in and out of the classroom.
💦 Active & Outdoor Adventures
Our pupils will be keeping active with weekly swimming sessions, helping to build confidence, coordination and wellbeing. In addition, we’ll be making the most of the sunshine with outdoor PE lessons, focusing on adventurous activities that encourage teamwork, resilience and fun.
We’re also delighted to be heading out on educational trips to Beacon Fell and Brockholes, where pupils will explore nature, develop independence and enjoy new environments in a supportive way.
🌳 Forest School & Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning continues to be a highlight of our curriculum. Through our Forest School sessions, pupils will explore plants in Science, linking their learning to the natural world. Activities such as den building will promote problem-solving, creativity and collaboration.
📚 Engaging Curriculum
In English, we will be diving into Oliver Twist, exploring the life of the main character and gaining insight into what life was like during that time. This links closely with our term’s topic of Industry, where pupils will develop an understanding of how people lived and worked in the past.
🎨 Creative Enterprise
Creativity will shine this term as pupils take part in an enterprise project, designing and making items to sell. This is a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, develop practical skills and experience the excitement of creating something meaningful.
We are incredibly proud of how our pupils embrace new challenges and we look forward to a Summer Term full of growth, discovery and memorable experiences.
