Birch 2026 - 2027

Mrs Amy Holt

Mrs Amy Holt

Welcome to Birch Class

Autumn Term

Our topic for the first half of the Autumn term is ‘Things I can hear’. Throughout the half term, pupils will be developing a wide range of skills linked to this topic.

In our English and Communication lessons, we will cover reading and phonics, writing, fine and gross motor skills, communication and interaction, and speaking and listening. Each day, we will focus on a different area of learning. Lessons will include:

  • Sharing songs and stories linking to early phonics
  • Messy mark making and writing skills
  • Tuff tray play and interaction
  • Reading for pleasure
  • Intensive interaction

The topic will also be explored in Science, Music and Geography. We will be exploring musical instruments, learning where they come from, making our own instruments and practicing different ways to play them.

During Maths sessions, we will be working on number: place value, as well as measurement: length. These will mainly be taught through attention autism.

Every day, we will continue to work towards individual targets and enjoy lots of fun and exciting learning opportunities.

Key Information

  • As the wet weather months begin, please ensure your child has a spare change of clothes in school in case they get wet.
  • Please send in waterproofs, wellies, hats, and gloves, suncream (if not already in school), so we are prepared for all weather conditions.
  • Please name all items of clothing, particularly jumpers, coats, hats, and PE kit.
  • Snacks and/or lunch: Please ensure a school lunch is ordered if appropriate. If your child brings snacks, please send enough for the day, and include juice if this is their preferred drink.
  • Please let us know of any issues or useful information that will help us care for your child via ClassDojo or phone call.
