The Thrive Approach

We have adopted Thrive as a whole school approach here at Hillside Specialist School and College. Thrive is a set of principles that are rooted in neuroscience and child development theory. It is an approach that will improve the mental health and wellbeing of all our pupils.

Through the Thrive online assessment tool, staff can identify areas of unmet need and implement an action plan to support the social and emotional development of our pupils.

The Thrive approach is based on growing evidence that the brain develops through personal and social interaction. Therefore, a big focus on the work done here at Hillside Specialist School and College is built on creating positive relationships and a safe and trusting environment for all. We do this in two main ways;

· Via group and individual assessments which produce strategies.

· By developing a culture where the Thrive approach is ‘weaved’ throughout the school ethos.
