Salary: Apprentice rates:
- Under 18 - £7.55
- 18 to 20 - £7.55 or £10.00 if 19+ and completed the first year of their apprenticeship
- 21+ £7.55 or £12.21 if they have completed the first year of their apprenticeship
Term: Part-time, term time only 2 year apprenticeship Required: from asap
Hours: 32.5 hours a week, across Monday to Friday.

Summary
Hillside is a Special School & College for children and young adults with autism. We have 118 students ranging from age 4 to 18 years. We encourage a happy and professional culture and seek highly energetic and motivated staff who embrace challenge. We believe in the uniqueness of every student and offer a personalised approach to teaching.
We are looking for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprentice (32.5 hours per week) to start as soon as possible. The post is for 2 years in the first instance and full training will be undertaken in conjunction with Nelson & Colne College. Your college tutor will visit regularly throughout the apprenticeship, and you will have a mentor within the school.
You are required to have at least a Grade 4/C in English and Maths to undertake an apprentice role.
The duties will include, under direction of the classroom teacher/team – To provide basic supervision and care for pupils with Autism. Support pupils with personal care needs, prepare resources, organise classroom equipment, report pupil achievements/problems, have a commitment to safeguarding, work within schools’ policies and procedures and attend staff training/meetings where appropriate.
The working pattern is Monday – Friday 8:45am-3:45pm

What we expect from you:
- A positive attitude to work within a dedicated class team.
- Under the general supervision and direction of the teacher you will be expected to plan and implement learning activities for individuals and groups.
- You will also be required to monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to the class teacher and establish supportive and constructive relationships with pupils, parents, and carers.
