If your child is in Key Stage 3, they will start (or continue) to work towards their ASDAN Exploring Aspirations Qualification. This term the ASDAN modules focus on Healthy Eating and Personal Hygiene. We will be shopping at ALDI every Tuesday and the students will buy their own ingredients for their cooking sessions.
We will be having regular play sessions, based on Intensive Interaction principles, developing communication and socialisation, through scaffolded play.
We will be having weekly cooking and food desensItisation lessons, linked to our topics or a curriculum area, building resilience, independence and promoting healthy lifestyles. Autism and Food Aversion | Otsimo
We will continue to use the Zones of Regulation to develop co-regulation strategies, build your child's toolkit and also develop a deeper understanding of our emotions and feelings and how we can ask for help when we are having difficulties. The Zones of Regulation | A Curriculum For Emotional Regulation
We will use Sensory Circuits Sensory Circuits - Childrens Choice Therapy, movement breaks and have individual sensory diets for each child to access. We will also build Fine and Gross Motor skills up daily, through regular exercise and access to sensory development resources, in fun and exciting ways!
As we move into and through Key Stage 3, we now have a focus on Preparation for Adulthood, building up our independence skills and how we’ll use these in the future. As part of this, we complete daily jobs, around Hillside and within our classroom. We will also take part in in-house Work Experience with, or directed by, the Hillside Site Team. We also have plans for guest speakers to come in and talk to the students from different career paths and local community jobs.
