Chestnut 2026 - 2027
Miss Daisy Binns
Welcome to Chestnut Class
Autumn Term
Our topic for the first half of the Autumn term is ‘Weather and the seasons’. Throughout the half term, pupils will be developing a wide range of skills linked to this topic.
In our English and Communication lessons, we will cover reading, phonics, writing, fine and gross motor skills, communication and interaction, and speaking and listening. Each day, we will focus on a different area of learning. Lessons will include:
· Sharing songs and stories linking to early phonics
· Communication
· Messy mark making and writing skills
· Tuff tray play and interaction
· Reading for pleasure
· Intensive interaction
The topic will also be explored in Science, Art and Geography. We will experience, explore and identify different weathers through a variety of activities.
During Maths sessions, we will be working on number: addition and subtraction, as well as measurement: volume and capacity. We will learn through practical activities, songs, stories and exploration.
We will have sessions with Superball Paul as well as weekly PE sessions focusing on Gymnastics.
Every day, we will continue to work towards individual targets and enjoy lots of fun and exciting learning opportunities.
